Author Book Signing & Open House

April 29 @ 4:00 pm 6:30 pm

The Museum of the Beartooths is hosting an open house and book signing this year to kickoff ColumbusMTGives.  Author Patty Molinaro will be signing her new book “Origins of Crow Agencies in Montana – Transitioning Beyond the Buffalo” during the open house.

Patty is a University Of Montana graduate and author to “Columbus and Stillwater County”, “Beartooth Mountains” and “Moccassins, Mining & Montana’s 34th County”.

Patty’s latest book is hot off the press and available at the Museum of the Beartooth gift shop. “This account supplemented with numerous images traces the development of the Crow Nation in Montana from the mid to late 1800’s.  At both Fort Parker and the Absaroka Agency the Crow faced numerous challenges, hurdles and displacements.  However, this period is also a testimony to the strength, adaption, and resiliency of Crow principles who helped lead and ensure survival of the tribe.”, Patty remarked on the book.

Museum of the Bearthooth’s Executive Director Penny Redli expressed, “I’m excited about this book as it is the first extensive history available to public on the Absaroka Agency that was located south of Absarokee.”

The open house and book signing is a fine opportunity to visit and connect with the museum while showing your support. There will be ample time to socialize, meet the author, ask questions and tour the museum. The museum operation relies on grants and donations, and is heartily grateful to all contributors and volunteers!

The museum’s ColumbusMTGives kickoff event will be held on Monday, April 29 from 4:00-6:30 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be served. ColumbusMTGives campaign runs April 29 – May 5. The Museum is located at 440 East 5th Avenue North in Columbus.

ColumbusMTGives is a key fundraiser for the museum during MTGives April 29 – May 5. More details on the campaign:

  • Donating during this week means your donation could potentially be doubled. The Columbus Community Foundation has raised matching funds that we can receive a percentage of. For example, if the Museum brings in 50% of the total funds raised by all organizations during the Columbus MTGives event, we will receive all donations made to the Museum plus 50% of the Columbus Community Foundation match funds.
  • On the MTGives website, www.columbusmtgives.org, you’ll find the Museum among other nonprofits. You’ll also find directions for donating online and a description of how we plan to utilize donations.
  • If you prefer to donate by check, please make the check out to Museum of the Beartooths and write “ColumbusMTGives” on the memo line of your check.  The memo note is especially important to have your donation added to our total for the week.
  • We’re open Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for dropping off donations, or you can send your check to PO Box 1, Columbus, MT 59019.
