June 26 @ 9:00 am 4:00 pm

Join the Museum of the Beartooths on Friday, June 26 for a day-long, immersive journey through the rich cultural history of the Crow Tribe in Stillwater County.

The day begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Museum with an introductory presentation by Museum Director Penny Redli and Casey Olsen of Columbus High School, offering a historical overview of the Crow Tribe’s enduring influence in the region.

Following the presentation, participants will board a bus for a guided tour of key historic and archaeological sites:

Second Crow Agency Site near Absarokee
Explore this significant location, active from 1875 to 1884, and learn about the in-depth archaeological research that has uncovered artifacts and stories central to understanding the Crow Tribe’s history in the region.

Stillwater Buffalo Jump (Ammishéelahpee) near Nye
After a lunch provided by the Fishtail Store, the tour continues to this sacred hunting ground, in use as early as 300 A.D. A vital site for multiple Native tribes, the buffalo jump offers a powerful glimpse into the traditional lifeways of the Crow people.

The group is expected to return to Columbus around 4:00 p.m.

Registration: $60 per person (includes tour and lunch)
Educator rate available, with renewal units offered for professional development.
